Designer Carolinian Davis Love created this course, and its layout expresses his affection not only for golf but also for Carolina itself. Having worked with the Carolinian wilderness so passionately, it sometimes feels as if the state itself is watching you’re every shot. Love has made the most of working with three different types of grass for the greens, and as a result you can never be too sure of how the final approach will end. Fortunately the fairways often end in broad landing areas, which guarantee that the course is often tough but never frustrating. Perhaps the best moment of the course can be found on holes three through seven which work their way through the ruins of a forgotten plantation.
